Rappenstein Castle

The Rappenstein castle ruins in Untervaz, built around 1250, impress with a strong wall, window embrasures and a high entrance. The cave castle is accessible all year round and offers insights into historical architecture.
Cave castle. Strong wall with window embrasures and high entrance. Remains of wooden beams mark the position of the arcades and external stairs leading to the high entrance. Stumps of beams on the top of a roof construction or a wooden superstructure. Interior of the cave largely filled with rock debris. Narrow breach at the foot of the outer wall allows climbing inside the cave.
