Thermal water

In the 13th century, two hunters from the Pfäfers monastery discovered a steaming spring. This was the foundation stone for the centuries-long bathing tradition. The Pfäfers baths were built in the Tamina gorge. The famous physician Paracelsus attributed healing properties to the 36.5 degree thermal water. Later, the thermal water was piped to the thermal baths in Valens and Bad Ragaz.

The source of the healing thermal water
The Tamina Gorge is one of the most spectacular natural beauties in Switzerland. For centuries, 36.5° warm thermal water has been flowing from the depths of the gorge. The Old Baths in Pfäfers are home to the Museum of Bathing History.
Relaxation in thermal water
Here you can enjoy the healing power of the 36.5˚ degree thermal water. A pipeline transports it from the Tamina Gorge up to Valens.
