Dragon Hole Museum Vättis

The Drachenloch Museum in Vättis displays finds from the Drachenloch, including Palaeolithic cave bear bones and documents from the 1917-1923 excavation period. A collection of minerals, Roman coins and a model of the Walser settlement of St. Martin complete the exhibition.
The exhibition in the Drachenloch Museum focuses on the finds from the Drachenloch (including Palaeolithic cave bear bones) and documents from the excavation period 1917-1923. The talented draughtsman Toni Nigg (1908-2000) was present during the excavations and lovingly designed the museum into a real gem. He also integrated an overview of the local geology.
The small but fine local museum also houses a collection of minerals, Roman coins from the 3rd century AD and tools from the old cooperage trade. Since July 2006, the museum has been enriched by a faithful 1:10 scale model of the historic Walser settlement of St. Martin 100 years ago.
