The Seerenbach Falls near Betlis on Lake Walen form a cascade of three waterfalls with a total height of 585 meters. In the gorge in which the Seerenbach Falls plunge imposingly into the depths, the Rinquelle also comes to light. From an underground cave system, impressive masses of water pour into a 22-metre deep abyss. At 305 meters, the Seerenbach Falls in Betlis is one of the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. At the beginning of the 20th century, researchers began to investigate the source and the branching cave system. Various expeditions with diving equipment explored the Rin Cave and penetrated over 1000 meters into the interior of the mountain. A tunnel leading to the outside serves as a flood overflow of the underground river system after periods of rain and during snowmelt. Around 3000 meters from the cave entrance there is a fork where water disappears into the interior of the mountain. Where does it go? That will probably remain a secret! The Seerenbach waterfall can be reached on foot from the Betlis landing stage in about 20 minutes. The turn-off to the viewing platform is on the popular hiking trail from Weesen to Quinten.
