Tamina Gorge

The Tamina Gorge near Bad Ragaz offers a 450-metre-long, safe path to the spring water grotto. Here, 8000 liters of thermal water bubble up every minute from Europe's most productive acratothermal spring with a constant temperature of 36.5 °C.
The entrance to the mystical thermal water spring gorge is just a few meters from the Old Bath Pfäfers. The last section of the 450-metre-long, safe path leads via a tunnel into the rocky interior, past the small thermal water fountain to the spring water grotto. The rock faces in the gorge tower up to 80 meters high along the way. In the spring water grotto, you can finally experience at first hand how around 8,000 liters of water per minute gush out of the rock from Europe's most productive acratothermal spring. Researchers assume that the water seeps into the Tödi or Sardona region. In the process, it is heated until it returns to the surface in the Tamina Gorge after more than 10 years at a constant temperature of 36.5 °C.
