Salenegg Castle, the oldest winery in Europe
Wine has been grown at Salenegg Castle since 1068 and the castle has been owned by the Gugelberg von Moos family since 1654. From generation to generation, knowledge and experience have been passed on with courage and foresight, together with a deep respect for nature. All products from Schloss Salenegg - the wine, the distillates, the delicatessen vinegar and the cold-pressed oil - are cultivated and developed with love, diligence and skill.
In 2020, Helene v. Gugelberg, who now directs the fortunes of Schloss Salenegg, initiated the biggest restructuring of viticulture since 1906. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the new varieties Sauvignac and Cabernet blanc have been introduced. The newly planted vineyards are also designed to allow the greatest possible biodiversity and the mechanical work can be carried out by autonomous vehicles at a later date. At Schloss Salenegg, the oldest winery in Europe, there is a long tradition of focusing on the future.
