Wild lake

The Wildsee, part of the 5-lake hike, lies in a high alpine landscape and impresses with its milky blue color. The hike offers views of the Pizol Glacier and the Grauen Hörner.
Whether Wildsee, Schottensee, Schwarzsee or Baschalvasee: each of the four Pizolsee lakes is a jewel in its own right and so different that the viewer will never cease to be amazed.
The 5-lake hike, which takes in all of the Pizol lakes, is considered a hiking classic in Switzerland. The hike starts at the Pizolhütte on Lake Wangs. The ascent to the Wildseelücke at 2,493 m, from where you have a beautiful view as far as the Ortler and Piz Kesch, takes around an hour. Below the saddle at 2,438 m lies the Wildsee, with its milky blue water, which looks almost as if it has been painted into the barren, inhospitable alpine landscape. In the background you can see the Pizol glacier, the Pizol summit and the Grauen Hörner.
After a short descent, you reach the greenish shimmering Schottensee at 2,335 m, whose clear water even encourages the hardy to take a dip from time to time on a beautiful summer's day.
The route continues to Schwarzsee at 2,368 m, which, in contrast to the first two lakes, looks rather dark and menacing. No wonder, as legend has it that a bull lives in the water here.
Passing numerous old cairns, you finally reach Baschalvasee at 2,174 m, whose color competes with the green of the surrounding meadows.
