Foostock and Foopass area

The Foostock and Foopass area offers an impressive view of Piz Sardona, Piz Segnes and the Tschingelhörner. The Glarus Thrust is particularly visible here, making it a popular destination for geology enthusiasts.
Rarely is the Glarus Thrust so beautifully exposed and so easily recognizable as on the east and south sides of the Foostock. As a result of erosion, the Glarus Thrust has already been removed from the Foopass, which is why Arnold Escher had the Glarus Double Fold carved here in the middle of the 19th century. The fierce decades-long controversy surrounding the Glarus double fold led to the Foopass becoming a Mecca for geologists.
From the Foopass you have a magnificent view of Piz Sardona, Piz Segnes and the Tschingelhörner, where the main overthrust is particularly visible.
