Sardona-Segnas Group area

The Sardona-Segnas Group area in the border region between the cantons of St. Gallen, Glarus and Graubünden is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. Impressive geological formations such as Verrucano rocks and glacial moraines can be discovered here.
The mountain with the melodious name Piz Sardona in the border region of the cantons of St. Gallen, Glarus and Graubünden gave its name to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. Verrucano rocks lie directly on top of the thin lochside limestone band and the flysch rocks. Towards the Calfeisental and Flims there are glaciers that have lost considerable length and volume in recent years. Beautiful moraines, glacier striations and gravel plains can be seen in their foreland.
