11 exceptional places for every type of fondue

What type of fondue are you?
Not all fondues are the same. Whether in a traditional restaurant, in a cozy gondola or outdoors in nature - Heidiland has the right place for every type of fondue. We show you 11 extraordinary places that will make your fondue heart beat faster and give you a completely new experience of the classic dish.

Fondue slide
Make yourself comfortable with your family or friends in the specially equipped Rössliposcht Maienfeld fondue carriage and let the two-horse carriage take you through the Bündner Herrschaft. While it's cold outside, you can enjoy a creamy Bad Ragaz cheese fondue in the heated and illuminated carriage.
Winter hiking & snowshoeing
Fondue is as much a part of winter as snow. So why not combine the two? Active winter fans can do this on a winter or snowshoe hike on Schönhalden or Flumserberg. The only question that remains is whether to enjoy a fondue first or to look forward to it after a hike. That's up to you.

Fondue gondola on the Pizol
While others wait for their dinner in the restaurant, you can make yourself comfortable in the fondue gondola on the Pizol . The unforgettable view of the Sarganserland's sea of lights comes free of charge.

Fondue parlor
The Zollstube at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has a rustic atmosphere. As the Swiss-German menu already reveals, the Zollstube serves only the finest Swiss specialties. "Heidi-Fondü", "Älpler-Fondü", "Champagner-Fondü" or a "Gold-Fondü"? There are all of them and more.

Want even more enjoyment?
World-class wines, culinary hikes on Lake Walen, a picnic in the Alpine landscape, saffron from the Bündner Herrschaft. The Heidiland vacation region is full of culinary highlights.

Fondue in the barn
At the Sennästube restaurant on Flumserberg, everything revolves around the local alpine cheese specialties. Here you can enjoy your fondue in style in a converted cowshed surrounded by straw, wood and a huge portion of coziness. Tip: You can also enjoy your fondue in the parlor of the neighbouring traditional cheese dairy.

Fondue machine
Fancy a fondue but no cheese at home? The fondue machine at the Milchzentrale in Bad Ragaz can keep up with your spontaneous fondue cravings. Here you can get your favorite mixture at any time of day or night .

RivellaHome on the Flumserberg
In the cozy wooden chalet you can enjoy the Flumserberg fondue. Raclette with cheese from the Flumserberg Alpine dairy is also served. The chalet is open daily at Christmas and New Year. It is open on Friday and Saturday evenings until the beginning of March.
Our tip: Night skiing (Fridays) or night sledging (Thursdays and Saturdays) before the fondue. It tastes particularly good then.

Fondue in the mountain
The Hagerbach restaurant is located 100 meters into the mountain, more precisely: in the Hagerbach test gallery deep in the Alvier massif. The team puts its heart and soul into creating a cozy and unique atmosphere during the day. Combine an interesting tour of the tunnel with a fondue from the "Kesseli".

Chääs-Gondeli
The red Chääs-Gondeli at the sagibeiz on Lake Walen is back in operation and offers space for up to 8 people. In addition to the classic cheese fondue, the cozy Seilbahn-Gondeli also offers a house fondue and raclette.

Fondue marathon at Heidi's
In the comfortably furnished "Heidis Chäs-Stuba", fondues in original variations are served every Thursday and Friday. The very hungry dare to try Good's fondue marathon according to the motto "all you can eat". Well then: dig in!
Fondue glider
Admittedly, this fondue variation is not without its challenges. In any case, these two have won the prize for the most unusual and promising fondue location. But as far as we know, you can't (yet) book this offer.
