11 Sunbeds in Heidiland

Sunny spots to linger

Fog is the exception in Heidiland - thanks to the foehn in Sarganserland and the Bündner Herrschaft. And if it does happen to be gray in the valley, there are still plenty of alternatives high above the sea of fog. That's why we've put together a list of the most beautiful sunbathing spots in the region and have also included a hiking suggestion. Choose one or more benches and leave the winter blues behind you.

Eye-catcher on the Pizol

Prodkopf sunbed

A special bench awaits you on the Pizol. The "Sonnen-Schaukel" is located on the Prodkopf and offers a magnificent panoramic view over the Bündner Herrschaft, the Rhine Valley and Tamina Valley. At present, a visit to the Sonnen-Schaukel can be wonderfully combined with the Pardiel - Prodkopf winter hike.

Insights into the UNESCO World Heritage Site

Sunbeds on the Panorama Höhenweg

On the four-kilometre winter hiking trail from Laufböden to the Pizolhütte, there is a sunbathing area against an impressive backdrop: The UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona presents itself here in all its glory. And that's not all. Wherever your gaze wanders, there is plenty to discover - the Churfirsten peaks, Lake Walen, the Rhine Valley, Lake Constance and the Grisons mountains.

At the Giessensee

Sunbeds in Bad Ragaz

If you prefer a leisurely stroll rather than a winter hike, you shouldn't miss out on Giessenpark. There are several benches dotted around the sunniest spots in the park. With the lake in the middle of Giessenpark, this place is a real oasis of peace. And if you want more than just a walk: The varied Giessenpark Trail 411 for jogging fans runs through the Giessenpark.

Vines in hibernation

Sunbeds in Fläsch

Sunshine is as much a part of the Bündner Herrschaft region as its world-class wine. The sunbathing area in Fläsch is ideal for lingering a little longer. Right next to the bench is a picnic area and the Petersbrunnen fountain, where fresh spring water flows. The Maienfeld-Fläsch wine route is ideal for stretching your legs.

Tamina Valley Sun

Sunbeds on the Golerberg

The Golerberg is our sun tip for the wintry Tamina Valley: the Golerberg, with its panoramic views, is located in the high valley of St. Margrethenberg. The views here extend from the Falknis, over the Churfirsten and as far as the Pizol region. A three-kilometre-long Fürggli-Golerberg winter hiking trail leads past the bench.

One with the Rhine

Sunbeds in Sargans

There are several benches in the Rheinau recreation area where you can enjoy the Sargans sunshine. The Rhine is the program here: a leisurely walk leads through the Rhine forest and along the Rhine dam with information boards along the way on the flora and fauna of this area.

Discover Mels viticulture

Sunbeds in Heiligkreuz

There is a wonderfully sunny bench in Mels-Heiligkreuz on the wine trail from Sargans to Mels, which runs through the middle of the vineyards. The vineyards are not just beautiful to look at: There are information boards about local viticulture along the wine trail.

Zurich within reach

Sunbeds on the Flumserberg

The Züribänkli on the Flumserberg doesn't get its name for nothing: from here, you can enjoy more than just the Churfirsten and Lake Walen. The view extends as far as the city on the Limmat, which shows Zurich from a completely new perspective. We recommend combining the sunny hours on the bench with the Grappa circular trail, which incidentally takes its name from the Crappa forest and not from the pomace brandy grappa.

Top miles at eye level

Sunbed Prodalp-Panüöl

The scenic Prodalp-Panüöl winter hike is a highlight in itself. The icing on the cake of the hike can be found about halfway along the trail: at the Rotenberg rest area, there is a sunbathing area that offers a clear view of the imposing Spitzmeilen.

Listening to the waves

Sunbeds in Walenstadt

Walenstadt is known for its beautiful promenade on Lake Walen, which is also a real eye-catcher in winter. This view makes you want to take more time to linger on the sunbathing area. If you want to stretch your legs afterwards, we recommend the Walenstadt Trail 451, which leads right into the historic center of Walenstadt with its impressive village fountain and numerous time-honored buildings.

On foot or by boat

Sunbeds in Quinten

The sun really means well for the car-free village of Quinten. When it's gray all around, there's a good chance of catching a few rays of sunshine in Quinten . The walk from Au to Quinten along the shores of Lake Walen is also a pleasant experience.
